GlobalPANet is the only dedicated international network providing information service for those whose professional role or interest is specifically physical activity. Physical inactivity is a global problem and the fourth leading risk factor for mortality worldwide (WHO Burden of Disease Report 2009). GlobalPANet supports those who see physical activity as part of their role or interest. This network is designed to contribute to increasing physical activity levels globally by making the most important and current physical activity information rapidly available. This site provides information, tools and a unique knowledge base for your use. All GlobalPANet services are free.


Management Team

The Management team at GlobalPANet are responsible for management, content delivery and maintenance of the GlobalPANet initiative. They ensure you are kept up to date with the latest physical activity developments as they source and communicate information across the globe.


Professor Adrian Bauman Co-Director, GlobalPANet is the Sesquicentenary Professor of Public Health, and Director of the Prevention Research Collaboration at The University of Sydney. He has extensive experience in health promotion and disease prevention research. He is one of the most widely published physical activity and health researchers internationally. He holds a current NHMRC Program Grant and is an investigator on other current ARC and competitive research grants.
Adjunct Associate Professor Trevor Shilton Co-Director, GlobalPANet is Director of Cardiovascular Health at the National Heart Foundation of Australia (WA). He has qualifications in education, public health and health promotion.  He has extensive experience and is widely published in advocacy, policy, physical activity, workforce development and social marketing. Trevor has directed major community-wide initiatives, including social marketing campaigns in obesity, physical activity and tobacco. Trevor is Deputy Chair of Global Advocacy for Physical Activity (GAPA), the Advocacy Council of ISPAH and is also Global Vice President for Advocacy for the International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE).
Rona Macniven GlobalPANet Executive has undergraduate and post-graduate qualifications in sport and physical activity and has been involved in research and policy initiatives over almost a decade in both the UK and Australia. She has been a lead or co-author in a number of policy-relevant academic publications in sport and physical activity across a range of topics such as interventions in developing countries, fundamental movement skills in pre-schoolers and anti-doping. Macniven has also coordinated the Australian Physical Activity Network for the past five years and has led several peer-reviewed papers and conference presentations about the network.
Bethany Goodall GlobalPANet Executive has a degree in Health Promotion and has experience working in Aboriginal Health as well as coordinating and facilitating programs for high school students. She joined the team in February 2012.
